‘Shoreline’
July 9 - August 31
Jo Fleming Contemporary Art is pleased to present our annual summer landscape exhibition, “Shoreline,” on view from July 9 through August 31. This year’s show brings together three distinct artistic visions exploring coastal environments, each offering a unique interpretation of land, water, and memory.
Geo McElroy captures the raw beauty of the Eastern Shore in expressive, realist oil paintings that depict unspoiled landscapes, vast horizons, ocean vistas, inland waterways, coastal forests, and agricultural fields, all rendered with a deep sense of place and atmosphere.
Brooke Lanier, a Philadelphia-based artist, contributes luminous photorealistic oil paintings that begin with collaged photographs of lakes, docks, and boats. Her abstracted, painterly compositions are both vibrant and deeply personal, drawing from her own experiences and impressions of watery landscapes.
Lesley Giles, an Eastern Shore artist, presents bold, colorful depictions of solitary structures and coastal huts nestled along rural roads and shorelines. With a modern sensibility and a nod to influences like David Hockney, Giles imbues her work with a subtle abstraction that invites viewers to see these familiar scenes in a fresh light.
